The Ashes Series

I've just watched a sunset to rival this...
Hang on to your knickers, Brisbane, the Barmy Army has hit town!!
For those of you who are not in the know, the Ashes series is the annual cricket series between Australia and England. This weekend, there is a match here in Brisbane between these two teams and the Barmy Army (England supporters) has arrived in a vocal swarm! Apparently it has cost them $10,000 to get here and they plan to get their money's worth. These guys (and they are predominantly guys) plan to scream out insults including the word "convict". However, what they don't know is that, although Australia started off as a penal colony, there is a certain cachet nowadays in having an ancestor who was a convict. So, sorry Poms, the word "convict" is not an insult, rather a compliment to a country that was founded on blood, sweat and tears, literally!! Was England thus founded???
Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Oi, Oi, Oi!!
(Oops, sorry! Forgot the Bundy rum!!)

Hi Robyn ~ I take it you like cricket, so do I. My favourites are Adam Gillespie & Glen MeGrath and I watch most of the games. Thanks for your comments, glad you liked Murphy. Your Mum is amazing at 87 to be acting for the "elderly" I had a friend in her 90s who I used to take shopping. We saw a nice rocking chair in a shop & I said why don't you get one. She said I might, when I get old. I am having a break, as I have been so very
disheartened, to see the posts I type in colour, get altered and the print size so small. May get back later. Take care my friend, Love,

I know nothing about cricket, but the history of Australia I know and it's very interesting. I red a lot of books, true stories or half invented but very thrilling ! Do you know if one of your ancestors has stolen an apple or something else ? The most interesting story I ever red was a woman who wrote about her deportation to Australia in the 1960 !!! because she were in a orphanage while her mother were in a hospital. And when she were old enough she started to look for her mother in England, and found her finally. This story went through all newspapers and she finally wrote a book about it. Have you ever heard of that ? If you wish to answer me, do it through email or on my blog please, because some people answer on their own blog, but I never go back to the post which I had already commented.
