Shopping

Hi friends, how's it goin'? Thank you for the comments on my story about the French family. Even after all these years (well over 40), every now and again I have thoughts about them. So they certainly had an impact on my life...a positive one at that. I just think it is so sad that things happened the way they did, that choices were made which had far reaching consequences for them, especially the father and son. I can only hope the others weren't ostracised by their neighbours and friends. People can be so cruel and judgemental sometimes, but as Liz said in her comment, there for the grace of God...

Anyway, I went shopping today...heheh! I worked this morning until lunchtime and after lunch took off to Grand Plaza. I had a layby to pick up, boring stuff like underwear...very utility, stuff that was needed, nothing sexy there, not today. I also needed a pair of navy shoes for work, the skirts and slacks of our uniform are navy. I went into the more expensive shops because I thought they were more likely to have what I wanted...wrong! So I wandered around and come to one of these discount shoe stores, which I don't usually frequent because you get what you pay for, cheap and nasty. For some reason I went in to this one and there they were, navy shoes, leather and marked down to $40 dollars and they had my size. Tried them on and they were so comfortable that I didn't even have to think about it. While I was there I thought I may as well look for joggers for walking as my current ones are ready to fall to bits on my feet...I'm in danger of leaving bits of jogger as a trail when Jane and I walk in the mornings. I found a good pair that were fairly reasonable so I was very satisfied.

I then went to book a hair cut for tomorrow and was told they could take me right then...another chore crossed off my list. I was on the way back to the car and saw a women's wear shop with some pretty good sale prices so had a look around and surprise, surprise, there were some genuine bargains. I came out with two lovely casual tops for $24.

I thought I'd had quite a good day and decided to call it quits for the moment, plus my feet were getting sore. I had never been shopping on a Friday afternoon, I usually go Thursdays or Saturdays and so does everybody else, but today was lovely and quiet and relaxed. So...I think it's Fridays from now on, much more pleasant not to have to put up with hordes of people with trolleys, strollers and uncontrolled kids. I could have a bit to say about that if I had the chance to go on "Grumpy Old Women"...lol.

So that was my Friday and I'm going to have a relaxed evening too. I was wondering what to have for dinner and as I hadn't had macaroni cheese for absolutely ages...that's the choice for tonight.

Have a wonderful weekend and I hope it rains for you if you're in a drought ravaged area. We had a lovely drop last night and a thunderstorm is predicted for tonight. It's been very humid and apparently the temperature is forecast for 35 degrees on Sunday...not looking forward to that, especially if it's humid, and it probably will be. I just heard some thunder in the distance and it's starting to get dark...sounds like the storm is making its way to our place.

You're probably in bed now and I'm just waking up! lol Wow, it does sound like you had a great shopping day...you certainly did find some good sales! When I went shopping last week, it was the opposite, I couldn't find anything I had on my list!!! Not too sure what I'll do with myself today...maybe see what kind of trouble I can get into! hehe xoxo

Your Friday afternoon sounds a bit like how my Thursday was, Robyn...particularly the sore feet bit! I went down to the coast with friends and they LOVE going shopping...and I, I'm completely different...I LOVE coming home! But I did managed to pick up a few things that I needed...and we did have a very nice lunch at the casino. That will do me for quite some time, again...unless of course I win the lotto and then I'll go on a shopping spree for a week! ;)

Baba: I think it's age...doesn't do anything for me, either!

Pea: Hey, it's easy to get into trouble if you hit the shops. You didn't have much luck the other day, but you might today :-)

Merle: Yes, it was a rarity for me to find all those bargains, usually I just miss them. You know, the sale finished the day before!

Rel: Oh yeah, I'm smug alright, because I usually don't have such a good find. Had some more rain last night, not a lot but the garden and the lawns are looking very happy.

Tammy: Oh, well done! You did far better than I did. Yes, I love a bargain, too. Don't we all?

Lee: If you win Lotto, I'm coming with you on your week long spree! And vice versa, of course ;-)

I had my BIG shopping day on Wednesday. I was at it for five hours and felt every minute of it. My back and hips were screaming for mercy. I hate shopping so try to do the whole months worth in one day. I do love getting back home and curling up on the couch with my puppies. It's heaven!

MM: When we were farming I'd shop once a month but now I do it once a week. I hate grocery shopping, however I need to eat so it has to be done. But, I love shopping for clothes and shoes and other nice things!

Michael: Weird ain't the word. It's downright peculiar and very unpredictable.

I almost dropped from my chair ! Rain ! Please don't talk about rain, it rained here the whole week and it all looked grey and sad it was just a funeral weather ! Today everybody is in a good mood because the sun is shining and cat Pookie lays on my bed, on her back, paws up, to get some sunshine on her belly !
On the other hand I can understand after that awful dry summer you had, with fires and water restrictions, that you are happy about a little rain. Winter will come soon for you and don't write then it rains too much ! lol !
