Thank you all so much for your thoughts.
Sadly, Oscar was hit by a car and killed instantly on Thursday night/early Friday morning.
My daughter told me and I brought him home earlier.
Life is going to seem pretty empty now...he was a cat with a lot of personality and a very affectionate and loving companion.
I'll miss you so much, Oscar.

I feel so sad for your loss!
We have had cats for 30 years (not the same ones), and all but one has died at an advanced age. Even so, the loss of a loving companion is always heart wrenching. More so, I think, when snatched from life too early.
Grieving is a part of the recovery process. Take the time necessary!

I'm so sorry for your loss. When I was a kid, my parents had two cats killed by cars. There's nothing I can say to make you feel better, but at least he died quickly and didn't suffer.

Oh! Dear! I'm so, so sorry, Robyn. I've been out of the loop for a couple of days because I was having my new laptop installed. This is so sad. I can't say anymore...this has upset me.

OMG, Robyn, that's horrible. I have tears welling, as I type. I actually don't know what to say, other than let you know that I am thinking of you. Oscar was a friend, family ... not just a cat. I know you will miss him tremendously.

Robyn, I don't know if you'll check Oscar's site anymore, so many have offered such sincere sympathy. I was one of those and hope that you'll read my comment. I'm so very, very sorry for you loss. A cat is more than a pet, much more. A cat is a friend, a companion, a family member. Your loss is felt by all of us as we've all become friends through are cats.
