Garden Stuff

Remember earlier this year, I bought some geraniums to put in a hanging pot? Well, here they are, below. Only two colours unfortunately, red and white. They were supposed to be mixed colours.

Below are two weird cacti from Fred's collection. Prickles and leaves...totally peculiar.

A double hibiscus flower.

Another one of Fred's weird plants. This one likes climbing trees. The brown thing next to it is an elk horn...you can see the new growth starting.

Cactus (or cactee) are always very nice for unwanted guests. Just forget them on your sofa !

Dear Robyn ~~ The flowers are nice but I am not keen on cacti myself.
Some are very unusual and nice.
Sounds like you got a great financial advisor to help you work out the future which sounds rosy. Congrats.
And you did well at the market again
Well done. Thanks for the comments,
and Jen doesn't look or act 69. That
Julie Andrews song was hilarious, but
we can relate to a lot of it.
Take care, my friend, Love, Merle.

I just understand the appeal of cacti! They just look so... prickly... to me!

Love the elk horn... used tea leaves/bags are fantastic food for them... pass it on.

Lovely post Robyn.

At least you can still get your geraniums to flower. Mine's practically dead. I guessed the tropical weather is just too hot for its proper growth.

I have some cactus somewhat like the second pot. The stem is long and tall with only a spiky bulb on the top. The leaves are reddish and will grow only on the top of the bulb. From a far, it looked like a palm tree.

I used to have this double hibiscus plant too but pink in color. I got fed up taking care of it as the flowers whither real fast and I have to sweep my floor all the time.. LOL!

Hey! I have Elk Horn ferns at home too. I have it grown out of a coconut husk. It looks beautiful hanging up in my garden. The only problem is that the leaves get brown real fast.

By the way, the weird looking plant next to the fern looked like a plant originated from Vietnam. It's supposed to bear a big reddish fruit which we call as "Dragon Fruit" or Pitaya. Maybe I could be wrong, just check it out in Wikipedia. The fruit has either white or pinkish flesh with the pinkish ones being sweeter.

We like cacti here at CatSynth. Interesting shapes, and also quite drought resistant. Of course, I have to keep a respectful distance...

Robyn,
Are we experiencing the beginnings of a spring fever here?

I think that cactus is a Madagascar Palm.
I have been trying to get one for awhile to add to my cactus collection.
If I am right I think the milk is poisonous so you might want to look into that.

Hi again Robyn ~~ Thanks for your comments on the Biker post. My elder
son John rides a bike and also belongs to the Ulysses club (Grow old Disgracefully) and also the Far Riders' club. He rides 5oo kms for a meeting with others to different places. I worry of course.
Take care my friend, Love, Merle.

Hi Robyn..
I like your plants.I rather like the cacti or succulents with out prickles..I used Banana skins and used tea bags behind my stags and elks, and top them up in summer with more spagnumm moss helps retain the moisture... '
