$$$$$ Woohoo!

I had my tax done today and I was dreading it. Working from home, I pay my own tax so that means putting money away each month to pay any tax that I may owe at the end of that particular financial year. Last year I had to pay over $700, so this year because I'd earned more, I was expecting a bigger tax bill.

So, I took all my invoices, receipts and what have you along to the account. I had to wait ages past my appointment time because of the client before me, then the phone rang and I had to wait until he'd taken that call. It was worth it. I get a refund...not a huge one, but I was happy. I'd have been happy if it was a neutral result.

Not only that, but when I mentioned I'd paid more than $700 in tax last year, Dave said he'd have a look at it for me and he guaranteed me a refund on that, too...plus interest! I asked why the difference in the two years' returns and it had to do with the fact that I run a small business, so I get some sort of entrepreneurial offset, which wasn't taken into account last year (he didn't do my tax return last year...but he'll be doing it next year!). It meant that there was a 25% discount on any money that could be owing in taxes. In my case, it gave me a refund.

Soooo, with the money I don't have to give the Tax Office, I'll get two new tyres for my car and put the rest aside towards my spending money in New Zealand. I's a very happy chappie...

Dear Robyn ~~ What a beaut surprise, I guess you are dancing around singing "I'm in the Money." I hope you can get some of last year's tax
back. Sounds like a good accountant.
Stick with him.
Has it warmed up, up where you are?
It is still very cold here, no snow near Shepparton, but there has been snow around mountains, and Melbourne.
We are all sick of Winter. Take care,
Love, Merle.

Mike and I also have to set money aside here to pay taxes. We paid triple what you did last year. It is just awful for us!! We never and I mean NEVER get a little bit back. I would just like to break even once!! It is hard when you have a small business!!
I am so happy for you though!! Someone has to come out ahead sometimes.
we are still traveling. We are in Kentucky last night and of course this morning.
Leaving now to go visit with Kathy from Lazy Daisy Log...We are good friends.
Have a great day. Sandy

What a blessing!!! Isn't it great to find an accountant who knows what he's doing?

That's fantastic Robyn. We're going in a couple of weeks but I fear we will have the opposite result. *sigh*

How wonderful! I'll have to pay some tax this year because I've been earning from my writing for websites. I wish I'd been wise and put money aside ...
