On Tuesday evening we had a storm...a pretty vicious one, too. Golf ball sized hail, winds 100 km per hour and plenty of heavy rain. But...the thunder and lightning was extremely loud and scary. Fortunately, we only received small hail, unlike some areas that had a real pounding.
I was over with Jane and Fred having a cup of coffee. The lightning strikes were coming fast and furious then there was one really close...as in about 20 metres from the house. We felt the percussion through our bodies and the noise left our ears ringing and sore. Jane and I shrieked, the kids looked shocked and even Fred looked apprehensive.
I ran home to see how the cats were and they were cowering under the bed. The dogs don't like thunder, especially Ebony, and that close lightning strike was too much for her. Fortunately, Jane had tied her up otherwise she'd have bolted. As it was, she shot into the house as far as the chain would go...poor thing.
However, no trees fell, none were hit by lightning and the roof stayed on. It was all noise and show...

I love my dogs almost as much as my kids but there is no way in Hades I would have run anywhere in a storm like that. I am terrified of your run of the mill thunder and lightening, never mind something as furious as that. It makes me shudder all over just thinking about it.
That must have been terrible ! I don't like thunderstorms at all, and poor Arthur gets hysterical, not the others.
We only had about 4 big bolts of lightening with very loud thunder about 10 seconds later, so it wasn't very close.
Glad to hear there was no damage at your place.
We didn't get much of that storm... the one the day before was a different story though. The BOM said that we are in for quite a few nasty storms this seaon... so you'd better make a hidey hole for the dogs lol.

Wow. Sounds a bit scary to mee too, but I'm sure hubby would have been really excited, he loves thunder and lightening as much as he loves fireworks. It's magnificent scenery. I'm glad it didn't strike near you anyway :-)

I love storms as long as there is no serious damage. Witnessing natures fury is an awsome spectacle. Best to stay safw however. I'm not one to chase tornados and the like.

Mmmmmmm, yes, me either. When the thunder is real loud, I tend to want to cower with my critters. It's scary. Glad to hear that you didn't get the damaging HUGE hailstones tho.

We have never had hail that size and hope we don't. Apparently it is very destructive.
I don't loke electrical storms but there is something about fall wind and rain together, blowing leaves from the trees and all that make me want to sleep. I guess I;m strange. My dog's don't like thunder and bark their heads off at it.
Poor little pooches just don't have a clue.

Gday Robyn, Oh you were game running out in that storm..I like watching lightning but going out in it is another thing.. Ohh the poor cats and dog must have got such a fright I know our old dog was very frightened of storms,Penny is yet to see a storm..

WOW!! This was a wild night for you!! I remember once living in the country that the lightning jumped into our diningroom and I had the kids in a corner..It was awful!! WHEW!! Take care...
I love thunder storms and ould be out there dancing with the lightning bolts
