Sore and Sorry

That's me after the events of the early hours of Thursday morning. I shall explain...

Around five am, I woke up and stretched. The next thing I felt my right calf cramping up. Half asleep, I shot out of bed to straighten my leg only to have cramp start in my left foot. Consquently, I overbalanced and landed on my backside on the floor. Ohhh, the pain. I have never felt anything like it and wasn't sure whether I was going to throw up or pass out. I managed to get back up on the bed and lay there for about 30 minutes waiting for the pain to subside. It didn't and realising that I couldn't lie there like that I eased myself off the bed, hobbled out to the kitchen where I took two Panadol Osteo.

Back to bed I found a position that was relatively comfortable but certainly not pain free and stayed like that until I dozed off, or lost consciousness, I'm not sure which. After about three hours I woke fully and decided to stand under a hot shower which was lovely on my lower back. By that time the Panadol had worked somewhat and I was able to go next door for some help. I wasn't sure whether to dial triple zero or not. I decided not but when Jane offered to take me to Casualty, I knew I wouldn't be able to sit in the car for the ride to Logan Hospital. Ken, bless his heart, went to the pharmacy and got me some Mersyndol, which are pretty strong painkillers with a calmative ingredient, and refused to take any payment.

Anyway, I rested completely for 48 hours and I can localise the pain to my coccyx or tailbone. I can't sit for any length of time, so can't do much work from home, but at least I can walk around relatively freely and with the help of the Mersyndol at night, I get a good night's sleep. I'm going to try a short drive later, with a soft cushion underneath me and if it's not too bad, I'll go to my GP and get it x-rayed.

It won't help any but at least I'll know what damage I've done and really, time is going to be the only cure. All in all, it wasn't what I would call a very good start to the day. However, apart from feeling rather sore, I've survived the incident. Anyway, the point of all this is to tell you I won't be around much for the next little while, as I can't sit in the computer chair for too long.

Enjoy your weekend.

Oh no, Robyn, I'm so sorry you've hurt yourself. It does sound nasty.

Hope the pain gets better steadily and speedily.

OMG ! Poor Robyn, I know these cramps I get it sometimes too it's impossible to explain. Too bad that you landed so unluckily on your bottom. It's good that you let it check, if there is anything else. Otherwise only time can heal.

Oh geez, I hope you are feeling better and I hope that you didn't sustain too much damage. Please take care and get enough calcium and take care of your bones so you don't get fractures in the future.

OUCH Robyn. I immediately thought of your coccyx bone and that does hurt. I would definitely get it checked out. Maybe anti inflammatories might help. Try Nurofen Plus as that has an anti inflammatory in it as well as paracetamol. Listen to me...Miss druggie 2009. Believe me Robyn when it comes to pain relief I have tried everything there is. Panadol Osteo doesn't even touch the sides.

I hope you get better soon. You will be missed :)

Dear Robyn ~~ Those cramps must have been very severe to cause you to fall and I hope there is no permanent damage. Did you watch the Memorial Day for the Bushfires - it was well done I thought, through the tears.Best bit was Bruce Woodley and "I am
Australian". His daughter had a good clear voice also. I do hope the predictions about next Friday being a high danger day will not happen. We have all had all we can handle. You take good care, dear friend and rest up until you are your old self again. Love,Merle.

That sounds nasty! Hope you get better soon.

I get cramp in my feet too. My old quack told me it was lack of calcium; my new quack tells me it's lack of salt! I think I eat plenty of both and that it's just the cold. I find swimming helps. Especially stretching in water. Maybe it will help you?

Oh you poor thing! I'm sorry, I'm not really laughing at the thought of you leaping out of bed and falling over! That would just be cruel ...

Hope time does heal and quickly. Get well soon. Then you can have a celebratory party!

Ouch x millions! You poor thing! I know how that hurts, I had an accident with my tailbone when I was a teen and it took quite a while to be free from the pain. The cushion may help a bit.

I get cramp very often as a result of my bad back and I've often been thinking that it's dangerous to jump up like that when not quite awake. Now I'll take your accident as a big warning!

I hope you get better soon.

((hugs))
