The Continuing Story of the Difficult Neighbour

Right! I've sorted Jane out. I cornered Fred and told him his wife was driving us all nuts. He knew...she was driving him nuts, too. I've threatened him with dire consequences if he ever does this to us again. Fred just laughed and I wanted to hit him!

Anyway, he has bought Jane a lovely gift and I know it's one that she wants, so I was able to say to her that Fred is giving her something she is just going to love. I must have convinced her, because she immediately relaxed and said, "Oh, ok. That's wonderful," and all has been calm ever since. Whew!

Now all Wendy and I have to do is keep her occupied until about 5.30 pm on the day and believe me, that will take some fast talking. You see, Jane will be concerned about getting dinner on and making sure the boys are organised, etc, etc. And she can be really stubborn, so this may be tricky. Hopefully Wendy and I can be convincing enough in persuading her that we've organised it all with Fred and he thinks it's wonderful we're doing this for her blah, blah, blah...We'll see and I'll keep you informed. It's another three weeks exactly from today, Saturday.

Let's hope we can keep everything under wraps. I'm finding it quite difficult. Several times I've gone to say something and had to bite my tongue...literally. I now have teeth marks all over my tongue...

Wow Robyn, this birthday surprise sounds intriguing. How you're able to keep it under wraps for so long and for another 3 weeks is beyond my capabilities! Good luck and can't wait to see what happens. Thanks for the comment BTW, it was a nice way to start my morning :) Hope you have a great one!

Hahaha ! you make me laugh with your neighbor problems ! It reminds me Mr. Gattino's 50th birthday. I wanted to fake that I had forgotten it, but in reality I had invited our best friends, 5 couples to an apperitif at home and then a restaurant after.
It became impossible. Finally I proposed him that we would go out the both of us in his favourite restaurant, that kept him quiet. But you should have seen his face when he had taken his coat to go out with me and the first guests arrived ! he didn't know how to explain that we would go out. I think the only once who laughed were I and the guests. I tried it once more for his 65, by organizing a buffet for our friends at home and had hidden everything in our garden house with the help of my son, but there he nearly got a heart attack, and I had to admit that he hates surprises ! Since then I have never made surprises again ! Some people just can't stand it.

Take her shopping far enough away that she can't walk home easily. Then feign car trouble. Be sure that you are not near a bus route either. Fred should disconnect the phones too.

Hope that is helpful.

Snerx.

Robyn,
Goodluck! Keeping a surprise party secret is one of the most difficult things. But fun is in the planning and of course the celebration.
