After a Week's Absence...

I've found a few minutes to put up a post. It's been a busy week, I've been into the city twice and of course, down to the coast last Saturday as well as general running around. I was out every day last week and when Good Friday arrived, I was really pleased not to be going anywhere. In fact when I woke up on Friday, it was a beautiful morning and all I could hear were the birds. No traffic on the highway or anything, it was so peaceful.

The morning after the party was spent doing the rest of the cleaning up. A couple of people had stayed over at Jane and Fred's. Roger from across the back came over, my daughter and her husband arrived, a couple of neighbours who were unable to come to the party turned up and we all had bacon and eggs for breakfast cooked on the barbecue by Roger and Mitch, Jane and Fred's eldest boy. Fred's nephew, Bill, was around pretty early to take the big marquee and tables and chairs away. With all hands on deck, it wasn't long before the everything was cleared away and you wouldn't have known there had been a party at all.

The last of the marquees, tables and chairs.

As I mentioned above, I was in the city twice last week. The first time was to take the granddaughter who had done the modelling course to a casting call at the agency. They have accepted her for photographic work, much to her delight. She is very photogenic and on the way in, I happened to say to her that I wouldn't be surprised if she was accepted for photographic work.
Then I had to go back into the city on Thursday for an ophthalmolgic review. I have mild cataracts and need to have them checked yearly. It was at the practice where I used to work so it was nice catching up with everyone again. Of course, I was told I could come back to work, my job was still there. Yeah, right. Unfortunately, I said I couldn't leave my current position...semi retirement...heheh. My eyes are okay for another year. Actually I've had this current glasses prescription for 11 years now. I've had to replace the actual specs because the last ones were so scratched I could hardly see out of them. Although my eyesight has changed slightly, the left has always been weaker. The right has perfect sight and I can read the bottom line on the Snellen chart without my glasses with that eye, but the left is not so good, even with glasses and I don't think the cataract helps. When I get my driver's licence renewed I'm always asked if I need glasses for driving...I don't, fortunately.
I wanted to have laser work on the retinas so I wouldn't need to wear glasses at all, but apparently I'm in the 6% of the population who is long sighted rather than short sighted and it wouldn't work for me. It's a nuisance when I'm shopping because I need my glasses on to see labels, etc. but I can't use them to generally walk around, so I do my shopping with them perched on the end of my nose to enable me to do both.
Well, it's Easter Sunday and I hope you all have a very happy and restful Easter.

It looks like great weather. It has been nice here too, but we had some rain come through last night and it has been cooling off all day... now down to 52. At least we didn't have the tornadoes.

The weather always looks so great over there Robyn! You got me excited to warm up the BBQ with your pic there, unfortunately, it's still kinda nippy out, but hopefully soon!

Have a Happy Easter, hope you are enjoying the day. Nermal and I send purrs and head butts to you, Mitzi and Bella!

Oh and thanks for the comment, I needed to hear that exactly the way you said it :) Peace!

I hope you get some relaxing and days now after all the partying and city tours :-)

Now you can do laser surgery even if you're long sighted, but you're not allowed to have any sickness in the eyes, so because of your cataracts you still can't unfortunately.

How nice for your granddaughter ! My sight actually got better ! I am less short sighted and I had to wear weaker glasses ! I would be afraid of this lazer thing if it is not really necessary.

I'm like you with the glasses.

Honestly, you lot can even turn cleaning-up into a party! I want to come and live next to you!

You know it was a good party when you pick up where you left off the next day.

I'm blind as a bat without my glasses so I need them to drive and see the wonders of the world walking around me

Busy, busy week for sure for you!!!! More energy than I have these days. You GO girl!!!! And congrats to your granddaughter. I hope soon you'll post a photo of when she has her casting call [and let me know when, if you do please!]

And your cataracts? Hope there can be something done soon.

Now....you wrote in my comments: "As for bodies being temples...huh! No one's worshipped in mine for a while so where's the similarity? Now there's a Maxine-ism if I ever head one..."

I LOVE THAT!!! That was a hoot. And I LOL

Dear Robyn ~~Looks like a good party was had for everyone. Was Jane really surprised? I have an eye appointment next week too.
Glad you liked the story of Faith the dog who walked on his hind legs.
We had a hottish week too around 29 and 30, but it has got colder last couple of days. I have had my heater on twice so far.It was so nice having visitors, but I did get behind. Happily I am feeling much better, Glad you enjoy the
jokes. Take care, Love, Merle.
