My Latest Acquisition

My mobile phone (which was years old) died on me about a month ago and I finally got around to buying a new one. All I wanted was a phone, no camera, no video, blue tooth or any other coloured teeth. In fact, I didn't want teeth at all. However, no such animal exists now and I ended up getting a bottom of the line mobile that still did all those things. I mean, I have a perfectly good camera that takes both stills and videos, why do I want a phone that does those things?

Anyway, my new mobile arrived the other day. A racy black job with a colour screen and all the bells and whistles. I've taken photos of some of flowers in the garden, taken videos of the cats, sent messages, sent photos, emailed people and generally have had a lovely time playing. I've downloaded different tunes, tones and changed the ring tone several times including vibrate, although I have to be careful where the phone is on my person, and make sure I've taken my blood pressure medication, when it vibrates. All this excitement...

So, when it comes down to it, I've embraced this new technology wholeheartedly and now I wonder how I managed without it. I guess you could say I've been dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century. As long as I don't have to cope with talking kitchen utensils or a loo that lets me know when it's going to flush...

You just reminded me of back when my Mom said "I'll NEVER own a stupid computer or cell phone, that's just a waste of money"! hahaha NOW she can't seem to live without either.
I've heard others say the same thing about modern technology, and then you see them later hooked on things like internet and upgrading their cells constantly.lol
That's hilarious what you said about the loo! I remember the first time I stood up and the sucker flushed without me touching anything, and I though"SHEESH! Would this dang thing suck my a*** down if I don't stand up fast enough next time"? LOL
Thought for the day:
"Must add this blog to my faves list"!!

A loo that tells you when it is going to flush. This is the first I've heard of such a device. I must lead a sheltered life.

Welcome to the latest century.

Steve says I give him a thrill every time I call his cell at work...he has it on "vibrate" and it's in his pants pocket! lol I bought my cell phone a couple of years ago and it doesn't take pictures but I'm sure when it's time to buy another one, I'll have little choice because as you say, they pretty much all come with the bells and whistles now.

As for the loo...scares the beejeebers outta me everytime I go to a public washroom that has those automatic flush toilets as soon as you stand up! lol xoxo

Are you sure it's also a phone ??? because you didn't mention that you called somebody ! I was in the same case as you, I only use it as a phone and for messages and once in a while I make a picture. Ah yes, and when I am on travel I use it as alarm clock.
I hope you burried your old one nicely and put some flowers on its grave ! Welcome into the 21st century !
In 3 h I will pick up Diane, fortunately our train station is a cute doll size one, so I will have no difficulties to find her !
