De Spring Has Sprung

De grass has riz; I've found out where de flowers iz...

A stem of tiny strongly perfumed orchid flowers. Strongly perfumed being the operative words...it's enough to knock one out.

The whole plant...can you imagine the perfume? It permeates the entire place, that's why there are sneezes emanating from my flat lately.

Cattleya orchid. Did you know that orchid is a Greek word? And that in medicine orchidic means testicular. So if you ever hear of a guy having had an orchidectomy...you can guess which body parts will be missing. (Ok guys, no need to cross your legs and flinch...I guess you always wanted to know that useless piece of information, didn't you?)

Orange Clivia, named after Clive of India.

To compare an orchid with men's jewelery is a crime, lol ! The Greeks are crazy.
It is a very bad sign that your flowers are coming out, that means spring and here the striptease of the trees will start and we go towards automn (sob, sob)

Dear Robyn ~~ I love your flowers especially the top orchid and the clivia. I have never grown either of these, but my neighbors have them.
Glad you liked the fellow with his
R.M. Williams boots. He should have
gone for an Akubra.
The weather is gradually getting warmer. My son John is in Tasmania for the weekend, so I hope he will get home safely on Sunday.
Take care my friend, Love and Hugs,
Merle.

Robyn,
I gotta tell you; orchidectomy is not the word that comes to mind when I look at the velvety petals of a flower. But the earths rebirth in the form of beautiful flors does raise thoughts of reproduction. ;>)

Beautiful flowers! I didn't know that orchid is a Greek word. It is nice to know something each day.

Wow, I've never seen orchids resembling anything like that "river of stars"-type malarky up top ...

Well I would call it a "river of stars". That's what it reminds me of...
