Saturday Night Party

The warmer weather has arrived and the outdoor parties are starting. Last Saturday night was Fred's mum's 70th. There's a funny story to this party, too. It nearly wasn't.

The family had decided that to celebrate Silvia's 70th, they'd take her on the Kookaburra Queen (a paddle steamer that cruises the Brisbane River) for a slap up surprise luncheon. After Jane's 50th where we had the live band, Silvia decided she was going to have a party and she wanted the same band. That threw all the plans into disarray! But no way did she want to go on a boat...she wanted to dance. So last Saturday that's what we did. We rocked, we rolled, we boogied and we conga'd. It was great, as usual, with a fabulous supper which the family had catered.

They are a United Nations, this lot. Fred's father, who died some years ago, was Austrian, Silvia is Dutch. Her sister, Toni, has married Michael, a naughty Italian. Their son has married a Kiwi girl. Plus there are a Spanish couple, long time family friends. It's a very interesting crowd.

During the evening, Silvia was presented with her gift, which we all put in for and which she was absolutely delighted with as you can see by the smile on her face.

A motorised cart so she can hoon around her daughter's farm when she goes to stay.

This is what her granddaughter, Jolene, painted on the front for her.

Looks like a super fun party if you want my opinion!!! And the new 'go go granny go cart' looks awesome. And zippy.

But I enjoyed reading about the cultural differences in the family get together...especially the 'naughty Italian'. LOLOLOL

Hope your week will be super!

What fun!! She does not look 70 but then if you think about it..you and I are not that far behind her..wow!! That blows my mind when I think of it..I know you don't feel like it and I do not either.
Glad you had just a great time.

Hi and thanks for paying me a visit. Also thank you for the nice comment about my picture and poem. I'm glad you enjoyed them.
There is just something about being by the ocean!

This sounds like a wonderful party and what a magnificent gift. I'm sure she will get a lot of use from it. It actually looks like a lot of fun.

Hope you are having a good week. Tomorrow is officially the first day of autumn here and the mornings and evenings are getting nippy. However we are expecting some high daytime temp's this week. I need to be sure to water the new lawn.
Take care.

Hi Robyn ~~What a great party and I am sure Silvia will enjoy her great
present.

Thanks for your misguided comments!!!
Never at any stage did I say I made the profriteroles. I bought them at
Woolworths on special!! We have had a little rain the last few days and
I think our warmest day was 24, No
30s even yet. I like it like that
anything up to 30 is fine.

Take care dear Robyn, Love, Merle.
