A Beautiful Visitor

This is what I found clinging to my security door yesterday.  This beautiful gold and iridescent green insect is a Christmas beetle.  So called because that's when they're mostly seen...in December.  Unfortunately, they are not as plentiful as they once were so I was thrilled to find this fellow.  It's the first Christmas beetle I have seen for about five years.

that's a beautiful specimen Robyn. That's so cool that you actually have beetles around for Christmas!

Just wanted to wish you a Happy New Year's Eve! All the best in 2010 to you, Bella, Mitzi, and all of your family.

Dear Robyn ~~ Pretty beetle, and I
haven't seen one for years either.
Glad you had a great Christmas with family and so did I with family -
it's a special time.
I enjoyed your Christmas poem about
Santa and the roos. I hope that the
New Year in 2010 will be a great one for you - with health and happiness
and prosperity galore.
Take care, my friend, Love and hugs
Merle.
