Waffling on about this 'n' that.

and the reason why I haven't been blogging...by the way, this is my 401st post...is that I'm presently being a tennis tragic. The Australian Open is on and that is one of my favourite grand slam competitions to watch. Tonight it's the men's semi final...Rafael Nadal v Fernando Verdasco, both from Spain and both left handed, and the winner plays Roger Federer. Tomorrow it's the women's final...Serena Williams against the Russian, Dinara Safina (Marat Safin's sister).

Last night I took Gabbie to her Deportment class graduation held in the Queen Street Mall in Brisbane. I took the car right into the city and parked in the David Jones carpark. About two-and-a-half hours later, I paid to leave the carpark and just about had to take a loan out on the car...$33 it cost. What a rip off, when I can park in a council carpark for $23 for eight hours.

Anyway, it was lovely to see all these beautiful young girls walk out, with the confidence the course has given them, to collect their certificates. Gabbie is going to go on to do the modelling course which starts tomorrow (Saturday). I saw the proofs of the professional photos that were taken and they are just beautiful. She's so photogenic. I wanted to order some but Gabs advised me to wait for the professional photos from the modelling course...apparently they are very special.

Brooke arrived back from five weeks in New Zealand staying with Harry and her father. She's back at school, in grade 10, and is taking the sciences this year as she wants to study marine biology at uni. She was glad to be home.

Netball starts for the girls on Saturday and both Brooke and Gabbie are playing State League. That means Suzie is going to be hardly home as she's coaching the U13s this year in Rep as well as running the girls to training. What do they say? Oh yes. No rest for the wicked...

Two of my granddaughters are rather upset at the moment. Their boyfriends ended it with no explanation, so the poor girls are wondering what it's all about. Why do guys do that? I can remember a couple of guys breaking it off with me in my dating years with no explanation whatsoever. Leaves one rather up in the air. I think I'd rather have a damn good fight...at least some sort of reason would come out in the argument and not leave one feeling as if there's unfinished business.

The kids are back at school now and what a difference at the mall. It's quiet and a pleasure to be there...until the next holidays. It's amazing, but some of these kids are quite feral. As you walk past a group of them, all you hear are four letter expletives. I'm no angel, but I don't use language in general conversation. There's no need to, I can express myself quite adequately without resorting to continually peppering my conversation with four letter words, especially in a public place such as a shopping mall. Am I old fashioned? Guess I am...

Well, that's about it until I found something more interesting to post about. Hope it wasn't too mind numbingly boring for you.

Goodnight...

I am very curious to see the pictures of Gabbie ! I didn't know that she wants to become a model. It's quite hard work ! I did some modelling the worst was presenting fur coats in August with 28°C heat and no aircondition of course at that time, lol !
Boys and men are cowards didn't you know that ? they prefer to run away than face an explanation ! That's why it's better to run away first !

What lovely ramblings Robyn. I remember you watching the tennis last year and congratulations on your 41st post. Great effort. I can't handle watching the tennis knowing the kind of temperatures their playing in.

It sounds as if your family have all been very busy and I feel for your granddaughters. Those younger years can be so fraught with heartache can't they?

Dear Robyn ~~ I prefer cricket to tennis myself. It has all been exciting this year. Your girls are all growing up and doing well. Not to worry about boys who run and hide.
There are so many words in our language, there is no need to use the offensive ones, esp in public places. The very high cost of parking is too much. I prefer overhead fans at night too. We are all safe from the bushfires. There were about 20 homes lost and the fires were deliberately lit.
Some people are just idiots.
Take care, my friend, Love, Merle.

For someone who is busy keeping up with the open on TV, you do have a lot to keep up with.

No rest for the wicked, nor the weary. Being wickedly weary may have its benefits, too. chortle

Congrats to Gabbie on her achievement.

Guys seem to have a different view of the world than gals. It would be interesting to hear what they have to say when they are "dumped".

As for the youth and their language, I suspect they think it makes them seem more adult. Besides, they seem to relish the idea of nettling adults with their unique behaviors. They, too, will learn and make similar comments about "feral youth" when they come of age.

Enjoy the open. Hope the player for whom you are rooting, wins.

I hate swearing too. In fact it's a little scruple of mine NOT to include it in my forthcoming magnum opus...

Parking here is becoming rediculous to. I think its cheaper to get a ticket than pay for parking now.
I'm not much of a tennis spectator i keep falling into a trance when i watch a match

Not boring at all. What athletic girls they are!

I agree there's no need for the language but they don't know they're saying it half the time I'm sure. not that that is an excuse.
