Movie Day

If you only get to one movie this year, you gotta see Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Man's Chest. It is good! The special effects are amazing, if rather squeamish-making and there were some parts where I laughed so much I had tears running down my face. Without spoiling it for you, all I'll say about one hilarious sequence is - watch out for the round cage and the giant kebab...

Ms Flossy and her three, my neighbour with her two, another friend of Flossy's with her three, and me, all coordinated somehow to meet in front of the cinema complex and get tickets. Today was the opening day so as you can imagine the queue was very lengthy. That done, we queued again to get lunch; after lunch, we didn't need to queue to get inside because we were running late and the ads had started, but that was OK. It was well worth it to see the movie and Johnny Depp was the endearing rascally Jack Sparrow, camped up beautifully. He does it so well.

Speaking of Johnny Depp, I am reading a book at present called The Ninth Gate, one of the Dumas Club Series written by Arturo Perez-Reverte. According to the cover, it was made into a movie by Roman Polanski with Johnny Depp playing the part of Lucas Corso. Has anyone seen it? If so, what did you think? The book was recommended to me by one of the guys at work. It has been translated from Spanish and so far, is most intriguing. Apparently this author, according to Michael, has written several novels and one series is like the Da Vinci Code, in that it involves the Vatican, but it revolves around the search for a particular manuscript.

I must confess this post is going better than one I started yesterday and deleted. I should have left it until today because I was so tired after almost an hour-and-a-half getting home from work that my writing wasn't really making any sense. Another sign to stop going into the city?? Funnily enough, my horoscopes lately have been saying things like take a look at your career and see where you can go, it doesn't pay to stay with something just because it's secure, bite the bullet and take a leap of faith and all that sort of thing. Am I being told something...?

As a Queenslander I am very happy because the Maroons won the State of Origin series against New South Wales. Cane toads swallow cockroaches! For those of you outside Australia, some people participate in a certain ritual which involves chasing a ball up and down a field and kicking it over some posts which causes the general population to lose their decorum and act like idiots (yep, I can be one). Fortunately it only happens for a short period of time and then everyone regains their equilibrium until the next sporting event comes along and they do it all over again... Sound strange? Believe me, it's not as strange as it can look.

I am now going to put a cat amongst some pigeons - for those of you who are interested, it's Ms Flossy's birthday on Saturday. I won't divulge her age, but I have it from a reliable source (namely Ms Flossy) that she intends to party hard. About 20 of us are going out for dinner to celebrate. Watch this space and I'll spill aaalll the gossip afterwards.

That's it for now, the wine is going to my head and I'm starting to type garbage. Talk to you all later. Do yourselves a good turn today.

Oooooh now I can't wait to go see it...I loved the first one and was so thrilled when I heard they were filming 2 other sequels! Johnny Depp as Capt. Jack Sparrow makes me swooooon!!!! Orlando Bloom isn't too bad on the eye either! lol I had to laugh when you were talking about sports fans and how we lose our decorum when we're watching a game...I'll cheer and yell then sit down and self consciously look around me to see if anyone saw me make a fool of myself...thankfully they were all too busy doing the same themselves! lol Thank you for the heads up about Flossy's birthday coming up...shhhhh I won't tell that you told!!! I do hope you'll have some juicy gossip to tell us after the party though! hehe
