I'm Sitting Very Carefully

Thank you all so much for your good wishes and excellent advice...namely, don't do any housework...I appreciate that.

Well, I'm getting there, that's all I can say. Physio didn't help as much as I thought it would (the physiotherapist unfortunately wasn't a young spunky male, but a female...which I actually prefer. Some of the guys forget one's age and you're treated as if you're a football player, which I definitely am not) and so I had to have x-rays with threats of an injection to the nerve sheath at L5/S1. By dint of some very quick talking and promising faithfully to rest, keep out of the gym and take my anti-inflammatories, I managed to avoid that...whew! I was allowed to float in the pool and quite honestly, I think that did more good than anything.

So there you go. Today, I'm not as bad and decided I'd have a go at sitting at the computer. So far so good. I'm going to try and read all your posts, but this may take a day or two, however I'll get there.

Of course the whole thing has meant that I haven't been able to do any housework and my floors are pretty disgusting. It doesn't help that Oscar rolls around in the dirt then comes inside dropping leaves and twigs from his fur all over the place. Actually, I don't think I'm talking to Oscar at the moment as he brought me another unwanted present this morning. Fortunately it was deceased and I didn't have to chase it, I'm not sure how I would have managed that.

On Monday I had promised to look after Cooper so his mother could go to the hairdresser. As I had hurt my back the day before, I wondered how I was going to cope. Fortunately her 15-year-old son was staying for a while and I was really glad Anthony was there. He could pick Cooper up and carry him for me. Actually, for a 15-year-old, Anthony is wonderful with Cooper and is a real natural with babies. Hmmm, good training for later in life. Of course, Cooper just thinks his big brother is the bee's knees.

He is such a good baby. His mum was gone for about three hours (she was having the works done to her hair), and Cooper amused himself, didn't cry once and best of all, didn't poop his nappy, much to my and Ant's relief. I have really gotten over that part of babyhood and Ant was adamant he wasn't going to do it. I'm not sure what would have happened if Cooper had filled his nappy.

I tried to put him down for a sleep, but he thought it was playtime instead so I gave up on that idea. He wasn't cranky and I didn't worry too much, although every now and then he would rub his eyes...oh well, he would have slept well that night.

That's about it for the moment and I've done quite well, I think. I was having a look at my archives and my one year anniversary is coming up in June. Amazing how blogging takes over one's life...

When your back hurts it's one of the worst things ! I know that very well it's like a knife going through your kidneys. I went through all you do now and when it was a little better I did what my doctor had said "Go swim at least 3 x a week" and that' what I am doing now every morning. I "jump" out of my bed, in my car, cross the main road and "jump" in the water of my fitness swimming pool. I do half an hour swimming including a little water gymnastic (alone) have a jacuzzi and go home feeling like a new born. Ever since my back seems to be healed, only sometimes but not often he tells me that he is still there !
If you have this possibilty then try it ! It's really the best !
And thank Oscar that he is so caring bringing a dead victim instead of one still alive !

You just keep floating in that pool, Robyn...it's the best therapy for your back...and for you. Forget about the floors...they can wait...they'll only get dirty again, anyway! ;)

I wrecked myself yesterday moving and helping to move two fridges around. I got myself a new one...well, a new second-hand one that is in pristine condition...I bought if off friends of mine who are very particular about their stuff so this fridge is like new. It's 500lts, which is massive and I love it. But, like you, I was a wreck by the afternoon and ended up stopping everything I HAD to do...and just rested up. I continued today, with all the "putting back in place" of everything that had to be moved to get the old fridge out and the new one in.

So, heed my advice, dear friend...rest is what will fix your problem...the housework can wait!

Take care.

Hi Robyn ~~ Glad that you are a little better and hope the floating in the pool continues to help.Thank
goodness for Anthony as it is very hard to pick up a toddler when your back is so bad.
Thanks for your comments and though I enjoyed the break, it is good to be back with my friends in the blogosphere. Continue to rest and get better Robyn, the floors will wait.
Take great care, Love, Merle.
