State of Origin Aftermath

We lost the game but won the series...and even though the score was 18/4 to NSW, it was a hard game. I did wonder how it was going to turn out when Dallas Johnston, from the Qld team was knocked out cold in literally the first few seconds of the game. I couldn't believe my eyes to see this guy, bum up in the air, head on the ground, out to it. Uh oh, I thought to myself, this is not a good omen.
It was a bitterly fought for score and NSW had to work hard to get it. But I must admit that Hazem El-Masri is one helluva try converter...I reckon we ought to recruit him for Qld. I was rapt when Qld brought little Matty Bowen on...I thought that may have turned the game around, but it wasn't to be.

Oh well, there's always next year.

We had a good time at Jacqui and Dave's. Although Dave was pretty disgusted. He reckoned NSW were playing with an extra man...the umpire. And seeing some of the decisions, I wondered, too. Never mind, it's over and in every football game, there are always decisions that don't meet with anyone's approval.

The kids were hyped up...soft drink, crisps, lollies...hard to believe, isn't it, but they had a great time and yelled and booed with the adults. When we eventually got home, about 10.30, Harry fell into bed (which I'd had to foresight to get ready before we went out) and was out like a light before his head touched the pillow. He woke about about 8.30 and now he and the boys next door outside chasing around in the cold westerly that is now blowing after a beautiful warm day yesterday.

Later, we're going to my eldest daughter's for lunch and to have some family photos taken. My eldest grandson goes to Holland to live next month, his fiancee lives there. She's due over next week. Anyway Nick's sister, Stacey-Lee is compiling a family photo album to give to Nick as a surprise. Isn't she a lovely sister?

Here are a couple of photos from last night...Ciao for now.
Engrossed kids

Male bonding - if you look closely at Steve, the guy in red with his back to the camera, he has Mickey, Dave and Jacqui's Regent parrot on his shoulder. Mickey is sans most of his feathers at the moment...he's plucked them out. Actually, that is one spoilt bird, if you ask me, if he doesn't get his own way, he gives a piercing whistle...it's deafening, especially inside.

It seems to have been a very funny evening ! I can't say very much about football, the only thing I watch from time to time is tennis. Is your grand son's fiancée dutch ? My son is also engaged to a dutch girl. Unfortunately she is a little strange, the girl he was with before was french and we were big friends. But if he is happy, that's the only thing which counts, I don't have to live with her.

It was a great game and Qld certainly didn't disgrace themselves...it took NSW 73 minutes to overcome them. That defense by the Maroons in the second half that stopped the Blues from trying was, as Gould said many times...unbelievable. They played like the heroes they are. We won the State of Origin...that's all that matters...after all...it was a "dead rubber".

During the first half by listening to the commentators I was wondering if Queensland was actually playing! ;)

Hi Robyn ~~ Seems like the kids had the best time of all. How lovely of
your granddaughter to make a family album for your grandson. I hope he enjoys Holland. My youngest, Kathy is married to a Dutchman (Aussie now)and
Kathy has been over there 3 times with the kids. Last time she took all five and her husband of course, His Mum and brothers and sisters still live there. Take care Robyn, Love, Merle.

It looks like you all had a great time despite the outcome of the game and that's what is most important.

We don't have the football you have there but its is begingning to catch on now here and clubs are luring kids in,
I did see some when I was over in NZ.
It isn't for the weak of heart thats for sure lol

Have a nice day

Did'nt you hear me screaming Robyn? My neighbours sent over one of their kids with a note to tell me that the footballers can't hear me through the telly lol.

It was a brilliant game... even if we did'nt win it... at least we won the series! Yay
