Hello all...

Well, the reason I haven't been around lately is that I have been "doing things".

I hope you all enjoyed Halloween and didn't have the trouble they had on the Gold Coast with marauding mindless low lifes who, in their undeveloped brains, think that setting fire to schools and causing thousands of dollars worth of damage is "fun"...d'oh! They obviously need to each get a life...

Anyway, on Tuesday and Wednesday I did my stint at the Eye Centre in the city. One of the first things I do when I get home is turn on my computer and read my emails. There was one on Wednesday from a certain blogging gentleman wondering if I was free for coffee and/or lunch the next day..."call my mobile, it should be on." No, it wasn't, so I sent an email accepting with thanks.

We eventually connected and arrangements were made to meet the next day at a point roughly half way for both of us. I was running a trifle late but not too badly. I sat down to wait and turned my mobile phone on (I don't have it turned on when I'm driving). About 10 minutes later it rang...my friend was lost...sort of. He had gone past the turn he wanted and had to go a little out of his way. However, he arrived shortly thereafter and we adjourned to The Coffee Club for a very pleasant lunch, coffee and catch up. Four hours later, we were still there after a beautiful lunch (I didn't eat dinner last night, my lunch was sufficient to see me through to breakfast this morning), however I thought I'd better go home so we eased ourselves off the chairs, said goodbye and headed off home.

I had a lovely lunch, Peter, and it was great to catch up again...thank you very much.

That was yesterday. In a moment of weakness earlier in the week, I had agreed to hold a wine tasting afternoon today, Friday. Therefore, I was up at 5.30 am, made coffee and switched the computer on to do a few hours of work. At 10.00 am I stopped that to clean, sweep and vacuum then wash the floors, dust and generally get the place to rights before my fellow wine tasters arrived. I jumped into the shower then shot to the shops to get my shopping plus some snacks for us to nibble on while we "tasted".

At 1.30 pm I was organised and my youngest daughter arrived with my granddaughter, then my eldest daughter turned up and Jane wandered in from next door. We tasted about a dozen bottles of German, French, Italian and South African wines...and the presenter ended up selling over $400 worth of wine. Now before you get the idea in your heads that we were tossing back glasses of wine willy nilly...no it was not like that. We were given little glasses and only a tiny bit of wine was poured...altogether we probably only drank the standard glass, about 100 ml.

However, there were some lovely wines and my favourite was an Italian rose, so the three favourites were picked and six bottles of each were purchased and will be shared out when they are delivered.

So, that was how I've spent my week so far...and why I haven't been blogging.
Gabbie still hasn't heard from Netball Queensland about the U17 trials...none of the triallers has. However, she has been accepted by Tamblyn Agency for modelling assignments. She does need to do their course, as she has never modelled before and it's not a good look falling off the catwalk! However, they have guaranteed to take her on when she completes that, which will be next month, as they love the fact that she's so tall. So at least something's happening for her.

Enjoy your weekend...it's started here...heheh!

The wine tasting sounds like fun! :) My humans have done beer tastings, and the tiny glasses the beer is served in are so small that you really don't end up consuming much!

Hi Robyn ~~ Peter getting lost ~ I don't believe it. I thought he had
a nav cam thingo. Maybe he cannot work out how to use it. Probably wouldn't help~~ he is very prone to getting lost. Glad you had a long enjoyable lunch and catch up. The wine tasting sounds like fun.
Take care, Love, Merle.

Hi again Robyn ~~ Thanks for your comments and concern for John, He said the first day is painful when the anesthetic wears off, but not too bad after that. The Porsche for $15 was a goodie. Bye again, Cheers, Merle.

AH HA so that's where Peter was.
That's how he manages to find all these great places to take pictures of, he gets lost LOL

The last wine tasting I went to there was about 100 different wines to taste and we each got this small 2 ounce glass fulls.
By the end of the night they all tasted like swiss cheese that I ate to much of to stay sober.

Hang on you have to bear with me... this Gold Coast, is that the coast along Queensland? #
Or where?

Do you know I saw a postcard in TNT magazine (for Aussie backpackers in London) saying "Greetings from the Gold Coast" and I thought they were writing from Ghana!

Did you hear about the 17 month old girl, the doberman dog and the king brown snake?

It's surely been all over the Aussie news; I posted it up in my blog as well... what a story!

Well now I am all miffed that I didn't get a guernsey to that wine tasting! ;-)

Glad you had a lovely LONG lunch the other day, and that the wine tasting afternoon was a success.

And now.... it's the weekend - yay! Have a great one!
