Lorikeet and Lunch

This lilly pilly tree is the one I photographed and showed with all the berries on it a few days ago. Yesterday, I was going out for lunch and disturbed this lorikeet feasting on the delicious fruit. (Click to enlarge). Unfortunately, his head is partly hidden by a leaf, but he wouldn't keep still!
As I said, I was going out for lunch...to meet up with those two reprobates, Peter (from Holtie's House) and Warren (from Wazza's Place). For four hours we talked and laughed, had the odd cup of coffee and just incidentally, had something to eat.
It was most pleasant and as it was very humid, we were inside in the air conditioning...much more comfortable. During the course of the conversation we got to talking about the weather (it's true!) and compared ourselves with those of you in the Northern Hemisphere with blizzards, snow and bone freezing cold. It was unanimous...we prefer to be hot and sticky! So there you go...it's all what you're used to. We just cannot imagine a cold Christmas. To us, it's barbecues, swimming pools and ice cold beverages...wonderful!
Peter also passed on to me a boxed set of country music...400 songs! My eyes just about fell out of my head when I saw it...he bequeathed it to me because he was becoming overrun with CDs and DVDs...apparently. Anyway, I showed Fred who started drooling when he was looking through the songs. Much to everyone's delight we found the Bill and Boyd song "Santa Didn't Make it to Darwin" (referring to Cyclone Tracy which flattened the place Christmas Eve 1974). so we put the CD on and had a bit of a sing song. Wonderful...thank you so much, Peter.
Anyway, we had a lovely time and Warren told me all about the bad influence...cough...Peter is on him when he (Peter) comes down from Gympie. Hmmmn, just wondering who influences who, here. I think one's as bad as the other to be quite honest.
I eventually arrived back home a bit before five...after leaving at 11 in the morning! Well...who said lunch had to be short?
Thanks, guys, it was great to see you again.

What fun to be able to catch up with other bloggers. I know a few up in Queensland now so next time I'm up your way we will have to arrange a get together. I know you don't mind a grape juice or two Robyn so we can show our appreciation for Australia's finest and have a good old chinwag.

You have the most amazing life. I'm jealous! But not of your heat. I got up at 5 AM: 4 degrees F (-15.5 C) and high winds that are drifting yesterday's foot and more snowfall (35.5 cm) and in the dark I see drifts of over five feet (1.5 meters). Have to get photos today. No school today! Yippee!

And don't forget (because I haven't) that you are going to come visit! You gotta experience this!

Being and Aussie living in Florida, USA... I do miss an Aussie Christmas... though it isn't so much cold here... I miss the baked dinners, bon bons cracking each Christmas with the silly toys in them, Christmas pudding hanging for about a week... even down to the sounds of the Cicadas... give me an Aussie Chrissy any day...

That's a very cool bird!

We are having a very mild winter in Munich so far. We have no snow, and the little bit of snow that has fallen in the past month has quickly melted. The temperature has been hovering around zero. It looks like we're going to have another green Christmas this year. My humans are very happy they aren't back home in Canada - three weeks ago Ottawa received 40cm of snow, and then this weekend they had another 60cm!

It is also interesting to see were you live.
Have a nice day!

Hmm so your talking about the weather down under too :-)

Right now we have as opposite weather as you can have in Oslo, Norway: 6 hours daylight, -10C crispy, fresh air, but now snow :-(

Like you said; you probably like it the best the way you are used too.

"Lilly Pilly Tree." What a cute name. I would imagine that bird will have it's fill.
Your rain storm must have been a doozie!
Have a wonderful Christmas.

Hi Robyn ~~ Glad you had a nice long lunch with the boys. You are right,
both Peter and Warren can be rather outrageous and each influences the other. Glad you got some nice country music. I love it too.Have a great Christmas, my friend, and every good wish in 2008. Take care, much love, Merle.
