On Saturday

I will be going up to Toowoomba with a couple of friends to the Festival of the Flowers. Toowoomba is a city perched on top of the Great Dividing Range that runs down the east coast of Australia. Because of its inland proximity and its height above sea level, it's a lot cooler and a lot less humid than Brisbane, which is close to the coast. That means they can grow gardens more easily...when it rains. Unfortunately, being on top of the range does not guaranteee they get any more rainfall than what we do.

However, the folk of Toowoomba are nothing if not innovative and lack of water doesn't stop the Festival of Flowers. I shall show you the photos of this rather beautiful time of year.

Meanwhile, walking around the garden here, I made some discoveries which really prove that the cold weather has gone until next winter.

Fred's mum gave him this hibiscus for his birthday...I've never seen one this colour before. Isn't it beautiful?

One of Fred's orchids...this one is very highly perfumed and has several spikes of these tiny flowers.

Here they are in (slightly blurred) close up.

One of Fred's cymbidiums.

A spectacular Jacobean lily. I have some of these in a pot. They've not flowered as yet, but it would probably help if I gave them some fertiliser.

I love all your flowers ... and how lucky you are to have them in your garden. Isn't Spring marvellous !?! Unfortunately, usually the only flowers I manage to grow are those associated with weeds !!!
Take care, hugs, Meow

The Festival of flowers...how lovely. When I went to the Royal Show last week there were a lot of orchids being judged in the Horticultural Pavillion that were just beautiful. Flowers can really cheer the place up and those in your garden are just gorgeous.

Dear Robyn ~~ Loved your flower photos and Fred's orchids are lovely as well as the Hibiscus. I hope you enjoy the visit to Toowoomba's Festival of
Flowers and take some photos to show us.
The hibiscus is very unusual and nice.
Take care, my friend, Love, Merle.

That yellow trimmed hibiscus is gorgeous. I haven't seen one like it before either. The orchids are lovely too. I am fascinated with the one with tiny white flowers. I didn't know any orchid was fragrant.
