Back to Normality...

Yes, the celebrations are over and the year has begun. Most people are back at work and the grind will become a part of daily life again. As for normal...well, define normal.

I started my work from home today, Tuesday. I had a good excuse not to do so yesterday, as my friend, Margaret, came over for lunch. We hadn't seen each other for quite some time, so we had a lot of catching up to do.

Do you remember my daughters gave me an early birthday present...two A class tickets to Cirque du Soleil with Tapis Rouge beforehand? I asked Margaret to come with me...she was delighted with the invitation as she'd never been to any of Cirque's productions, so that's on the agenda for next Sunday. You can be sure I'll be posting about it, but no photographs, unfortunately. They're not allowed.

The kids will be going back to school in about three weeks, much to a lot of parents' relief, I suspect. Six weeks is a long time, I feel. They'd be better off having a shorter time now and making the mid semester holidays a little longer...but, what do I know. I remember as kids we loved the long summer school holidays and couldn't wait for them. Also, when we went back to school after those long holidays, as well as the start of a new year, we were in a higher grade and all up, it was a time of new beginnings all round.

So, let's forget the resolutions and put our noses to the grindstone, shoulders to the wheel and our best foot forward...imagine the contortions, eh?

Enjoy the Circus, I've not seen it but have heard lots about it.

I'm very envious of your tickets to the Cirque du Soleil. I have seen the specials they've had on TV over the years but I'm sure it wouldn't do justice to the reality.

The school holidays are way too long in my opinion and it's especially hard when they've been off for 7 weeks and then on the first day back they have a pupil free day. WTF is that about? The best we could hope for when we were aT school is that the teachers would have a staff meeting and we'd get to go home half an hour early.

I am also happy that the festivities are over and back to normal life. Although for the moment due to this extreme cold weather it's not so normal. I digged out moonboots I haven't worn for ages and even a fur coat ! fortunately both is still in fashion. We are not equipped for such cold weather.

Tee hee - your last sentence made me laugh.

Yes, it is a bit rough facing up to a normal work schedule, isn't it? I was really dragging my feet on Monday.

Happy 2009 Robyn!

Normal is good especially if it involves kids going back to school.
Cirque du Soleil is a must for most Canadians as they are from here and i took the kids to see Saltimbanco and we all loved it

Very appropriate for the celebration to end on on Epiphany.

But... what is normal? I don't think I have ever experienced that!

Back to NORMAL huh!! What really is that? I am never for sure.
Our daughters would just die having the kids home for 6 weeks at Christmas. I know they were ready for them to get back to school. I do not make resolutions because they always get broken..Why take the time..?? Smile!

Have a wonderful time on Sunday. I'm sure you will. You always seem to be able to enjoy yourself whatever! It's a great asset.
