Update on North Queensland Flood

Yep, it's still pretty wet up north with another depression crossing the coast to dump more rain. As one guy said, "The last deluge was 40 days. This is getting close..." Typical laconic Aussie humour. Anna Bligh, the Premier of Queensland, has launched an appeal to help these poor folk, with a $500,000 starting figure.

One lady said quite matter of factly, "It's no point cleaning up yet, because the river's going to rise again." How pragmatic is that?

We are about 900 - 1000 km south of all this precipitation and could really do with some of this rain and even in the midst of their own problems these stoic people could think of us down south. One lady said she know we could do with the rain down here. Leaves one with nothing to say...

The Outback is no longer dry.

That's not fair ! on one side too much water and on the other it's too dry ! Today it's quite "warm" 6°C and even the sun is shining for once.

Dear Robyn ~~ What an awful time for those folks in the floods up North.
You would think something could be done to channel some of that water down south to your part of Qld, or further south to NSW or even Vic.then
we could benefit and they wouldn't have the floods. Tomorrow is predicted to be a very severe bushfire risk, so I'm praying no idiots light any fires and no serious ones start. If we survive tomorrow, we are due for a cool change and a few days in high 20s
Wow, that will be great. Take care,
my friend. Love and Hugs, Merle.

Wow! That's a lot of water!

It is a shame that one part of the world in flooding while another part is starving for water.

My prayers for all.

Such a disaster! Nature is quite cruel sometimes. Must be really difficult times for people - and those poor stranded wallabies. I hope it will turn quickly and that it's getting better fast.

Doesn't looks or sounds good - kind of scary.

Wish you a nice end to your week anyway :-)

They are AMAZING pics Robyn. Those poor wallabies....I hope someone remembers to air drop them some food.

Well my State continues to fry and I can't even remember the last time we had rain. I do know that my tanks are all empty. Tomorrow there will be 10,000 firefighters on standby for some of the worse potential bushfire conditions ever seen.

Isn't it crazy? So many extremes. If only we could find some kind of happy medium and a way for us all to live more comfortably.

Looks like the coin has flipped on teh other side.
I hope those wallabies have a chance to get out of that situation.
If it goint to be this bad all the time maybe the government could build reseviours and divert the water through pipelines to other parts of the country.
One hell of a way to create jobs and irrigate the whole country at the same time.
It's either that or look at this happeneing on a regular basis

The poor Wallabies! Can't they swim? We had some serious flooding here this spring too but the animals were all saved.
It's too bad that you can't get your rain a little at a time instead of like this.
