Back to Work and a Card from Mum

I survived my first two days back at work. I know, I know - I only work two days a week... but that's in the city. I work far more from home. But it's the fact that I'm at home that makes the difference. It really doesn't even feel like work but it does give me structure to the day. I usually start at 4 am, then stop about 5.30 - 6 am when Jane and I go for our work. Back to work for another two hours or so, then stop for half-an-hour for breakfast and then contine until about lunch time and that's it! Very rarely do I work past 12.30 or so, if I'm asked because there is too much work (it's a 24 hour turnaround time), then I'll help out, but that is the only time I work extra hours.

At first it was really strange not going into work five days a week, but I quickly got used to it and I've been doing my two days in the city and the rest at home for a couple of years now and it really suits me.

But what was really nice yesterday was that I had a couple of Christmas presents from two of the doctors, who hadn't realised I wouldn't be there on the Friday before Christmas. One was a yummy Christmas cake and the other was a small gift pack with a jar hot tomato chilli relish, a jar of orange and carrot marmalade and a small Christmas pud. So that helped ease the torture of going back to work - hehe.

Today I received a card from mum, along with a pair of rather sexy knickers and a cute cat teapot. The card is a classic - this is what it says:

A toast to aging gracefully -

May your bum stay firm and pert
May your boobies not head south
May your lippy never bleed
Into thin lines around your mouth

May you eat a ton of chocolate
But never gain a pound
May you always look your best
Whenever Brad Pitt comes around

May you never wear big pants
Or grow unwanted hair
And, birthday girl, if all else fails
May you be too sloshed to care!

Don'tcha love it! Mum had also put inside - Could you ask for more??? I fell about laughing when I read that and boy, could I wish for all that! I think aging gracefully or as I would rather do, age disgracefully, has been on my mind lately - oh well, it comes to all of us. I was thrilled the other day though, I threw out a tomato with more wrinkles than I had. Yessss!

Oh boy, that's sad when one looks at wrinkled tomatoes and compares them with oneself...I think I'd better quit while I'm ahead.

Hi Robyn, I guess that means I missed your birthday... Happy Birthday. I also had to go and have a look at Peas site to investigate nuns farts, let me assure you there was no collaboration, anything that involves "careful" cooking will never see the light of day from my site, from what I saw I would think the same sort of thing would apply from Peas point of view.

Hi Peter, no you haven't missed my birthday - Mum's early with her gift, but thank you for the birthday wishes anyway.

As for the 'farts' - pretty coincidental, eh? I had to laugh at it after reading your cow joke.

Don't worry, Robyn, you're not the first to compare wrinkles with a tomato!

Love the poem. Do we get to see a photo of the gifts?!

Liz: Once I've seen what I get, I'll see if I can borrow a digi camera so I can show you. The teapot is really cute and I'd like to show it off.

Robyn
There's this really old guy who follows me around all day but never shows himself until I look in the window...I mean mirroe... Oh, he says nice enough things but I tell him don't be in a hurry, As long as feel younger than you you'll have to wait.
Most of the time I don't feel older than 31. When I was in the New Mexico mountains for 2 weeks with out a mirror, I actually felt as young as I ever been. (excluding childhood).

Just keep lovin' life girl!

Love it! Love it! I mean to age disgracefully, too...and so far, I'm succeeding! ;)

Happy Belated Birthday, Robyn, from me, too!

I insist you show us a pick on your blog of you modelling those new, sexy knickers! No excuses allowed!
