A Difficult Neighbour

No, this isn't as bad as it sounds. But my lovely next door neighbour is driving us all nuts. It's her 50th birthday in a couple of weeks and her husband and a couple of us have a surprise planned for her. However, to set the surprise up, we have to distract her for a few hours. Her husband suggested going out for a special breakfast the morning of her birthday and Jane (yes, you guessed it) is not impressed. She wants to do something really special and she's getting quite upset about it all.

Poor Jane, last night she came over to see me and was talking about her non birthday, as she sees it. She said she was going to "have a talk" with Fred. I had to do some fast thinking and talk her out of it. So I said that she may be a little too upset to be relatively objective and how about I talk to him. Thankfully, she agreed. So I've got to collar Fred on his own and warn him what's up. She's been talking to Ken, her father, who's also in on the secret. This is getting so difficult...but it's quite funny in it's own way, too.

Anyway, last night I told her to save some money to go shopping on her birthday and her eyes lit up at that thought. Wendy and I have been instructed by Fred to keep Jane out of the way for most of the afternoon while things are organised. I won't say exactly what's going on at the moment, but will keep you posted. As long as all this doesn't end in divorce beforehand!!

I am thinking you guys are about to hold a surprise party for Jane. If that is, she will love it!

I am sure it will all work out well. I look forward to your posting of the "trials and tribulations" of keeping Jane occupied while Fred gets the work done.

Beware, Jane may want to get back to the house early.

Do you and Jane go shopping often? If not, she may begin to catch on. I suspect she is a good sport.

Wish her a happy birthday from me.

I know surprise parties can be the most awful hassle but they're usually worth it for the delight it brings to the guest of honour.

Ouch, how difficult! But really fun! I hope she thinks so too afterward :-)
